“Marked delivered but not received” – How many can you get before deactivation?

The dreaded yet inevitable. A customer reports not receiving a package that was marked delivered. This means one of four things. The package was hidden too well and the customer couldn’t find it (most likely), package delivered to wrong address (likely), the package was stolen (somewhat likely), the customer is being untruthful and trying to scam Amazon (least likely).

The emails will tell you this will only affect Amazon Flex participation if it becomes a consistent problem. So what does that mean? What counts as a consistent problem?

Based on the reports from other Flex drivers it is agreed upon that 5 missing out of 500 deliveries and the driver will be deactivated. Results may vary but this is the consensus among Flex drivers. I once had 4 did not receive reports and remained as a driver. I believe 5/500 is correct.

Avoid getting did not receive reports by ALWAYS leaving a note for the customer when you hide a package. No matter how obvious, leave a detailed note. Do not leave packages out in the open for all to see and keep an eye out for suspicious characters. Take extra caution when delivering to apartments. Triple check that the package is being delivered to the correct address.

Unfortunately “did not receive” reports are inevitable and there’s nothing that can be done to combat them. Amazon will side with the customer on this issue every time. With diligence they can be kept to a minimum and not effect a drivers Amazon Flex participation.

Have a great one. Flex on!
