Amazon Flex Vehicle Requirements

If you’re accustomed to Uber and Lyft you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that Amazon Flex vehicle requirements are much more relaxed in comparison. For example I drive a 15 year old Volvo to make my deliveries. Lets look into the vehicle requirements for Amazon Flex drivers.

Prime Now:

So you’ve got an El Camino or a tiny smart car and want to use it for Amazon Flex driving? Well you’re in luck! If you plan to deliver Prime Now orders, any safe and reliable car is eligible. Keep in mind that Prime Now blocks are in the highest demand and therefor harder to get.

Logistics:

If you plan to deliver Amazon.com packages, aka logistics, you will need at minimum a 4-door mid sized sedan. For example 4-door Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Volvo S60, etc. Vans, trucks, and SUV’s also qualify and with larger vehicles you can sign up for 5-Hour logistics blocks. Trucks need to have a bed cover. These vehicles are also eligible for Prime Now deliveries.

Restaurants & Fresh:

Any safe and reliable car will do for these deliveries.

Can I use a rental?

Yes you can use a rental car for Amazon Flex provided you have all the necessary documents. Including license, insurance, permits. Borrowed cars are also OK.

Do I need any special insurance or licences?

You will need a drivers license in the state you plan to drive. You will need regular car insurance. Commercial car insurance is not required. It is advised to NOT inform your insurance provider that you will be using the car for Amazon Flex. Amazon provides their own insurance when on the job.

Can I use a bike, scooter, or motorcycle?

Bicycle delivery is possible in some areas. A good condition bike and helmet are required. You must comply with all the state laws regarding cycling. Scooters and motorcycles are not eligible.
