Prime Now, Logistics, HotWheels, Fresh, Amazon Flex. What does it mean?

When you first get on with Amazon Flex you might become confused by all the terms being used. Prime Now, Logistics, Fresh, and HotWheels are all different types of blocks you can accept. The work involved is a little different for each. All three are under one umbrella known as Amazon Flex. Let’s explain them in more detail.

Amazon Flex:

  • Prime Now:
    • Refers to the 1-2 hour deliveries. These will show up on your app with the words “Prime Now” and “includes tips”. The Prime Now facility is also often referred to as the FC. Prime Now blocks may include Amazon Fresh orders. Meaning you’ll be picking up bags from grocery stores and delivering them. Customers order these items using the Prime Now app and you deliver them.
  • Logistics:
    • Refers to packages that are ordered from Amazon.com. Logistics blocks may sometimes be referred to as .com blocks. These blocks range anywhere from 1 to 5 hours (more or less in some areas). Don’t expect tips during these blocks, it isn’t going to happen. The Logistics warehouse will be a different location than the Prime Now FC. The packages will be in boxes and are typically 2-day Prime orders or 1-day orders.
  • HotWheels / Restaurants:
    • Restaurant blocks are often referred to as HotWheels. They will also show up in your app with the words “includes tips” and sometimes “Restaurant” or the location in which you will be starting, example “Downtown”. With these blocks you’ll be given a starting location. You go there and wait for orders (aka pings). You will be alerted via the app once a ping comes in. Go there, get the food, deliver it.

See the Amazon Flex FAQ page for even more details about these blocks and what to expect with them. Go to the “Making Deliveries” tab. Includes videos.

That’s it folks. Amazon Flex is the umbrella term for all of the block types. This also includes the new Instant Offers or Available Now which we covered here. Since I primarily do logistics blocks, there may be minor discrepancies. Let me know in the comments and i’ll fix it.

Hope that clears things up. Have a great one!
