Amazon Flex – Worked Past the Block Time – Compensation

Yesterday I had the most frustrating block in the world. What was supposed to be a 3 hour block turned into about 5 hours. It was hot outside. There was traffic and with each stop I got a little more upset. The stops for my route were spread so far apart there was no way it could ever be done in three hours. With or without traffic.

I’ve gone past the block time before. I never asked to be compensated for it. However yesterdays block was so unreasonable I decided to send them an email. Surprisingly, they didn’t give me any trouble with the compensation.

If you find that a block is unreasonable and cannot be completed within the given time frame don’t be afraid to ask for compensation. Here’s how to do it:

Go to the Earnings tab within the Amazon Flex app.

Click on the block you want compensated for. Then click “Report a Problem”.

Choose the email option.

They will give you a template to fill out. Put in the Date, Time, and under “describe you question or concern”, ask them to please investigate the block for you. Tell them you went over and that you feel the allotted time to complete the block was unreasonable. Fill in any other details about the block you might have.

Hopefully they will compensate you without any troubles. If you get what seems to be a canned response. Keep sending email’s until you get a satisfactory response.

The compensation will show as an adjustment in the earnings tab. In my case, an excess block adjustment. Since I went over 2 hours. They gave me $36. The $18 an hour base rate.

Don’t be afraid to ask for compensation when it’s deserved. In our case emailing them worked well. It may take a little time. Don’t spam them, but do be persistent.
