You may have overheard Amazon Flex drivers in gleeful tones speaking about the “Scan and Go” routes. Laughing it up all the way to the bank as they pass by with a smile on their faces. Almost all seasoned Flex drivers have experience the “Scan and Go” it’s among the most coveted experiences that Amazon has to offer.
WTF is it?
A scan and go happens when the warehouse over-schedules too many drivers and they don’t have enough routes for everyone. Since they can’t send drivers home uncompensated, the drivers left with no packages to deliver get to scan a special QR code and then head home. Aside from the gas and time it took to get to the warehouse, it’s literally free money!
If you’ve worked Amazon Flex long enough you’ve probably experienced many of these. However, you can never rely on them or predict when they’ll happen. Sometimes you might even see other drivers who get to scan and go but you still have to take packages. It’s a luck of the draw but eventually with enough logistics blocks you’ll inevitably experience it.
How to get one?
- Do lot’s of logistics blocks
- Be lucky
That’s all there is to it. As stated, you can never plan for or know when a scan and go is coming. Nobody seems to really know why the warehouses sometimes get more drivers than they can handle. It could be a delivery truck that’s late, or the Amazon Flex algorithm anticipated more packages to deliver than what there actually are.
Stick around long enough with the logistics driver squad and you too will become apart of the scan and go club. Laughing it up all the way to the bank with a brief sense of sticking it to the man!
