“The War of Art” By: Steven Pressfield

I discovered this book by listening to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “The War of Art” is a guide to inspire and support those who struggle to express their creativity. The author describes a hidden force known as “resistance” that is actively keeping us from doing our work and getting shit done.

“We must do our work for its own sake, not for fortune or attention or applause.”
― Steven Pressfield, The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks & Win Your Inner Creative Battles

This book is a no bullshit approach to self help. Really motivational and it resonates truth with me. I think you might like it too.

“Think & Grow Rich – in the 21st Century” By: Napoleon Hill

This book comes highly recommended by pretty much everyone who’s made it. The author interviewed something like 500 of the most successful people of his time. Uncovering the secrets to great wealth. Based on the notion that if we can learn to think like the rich we can discover wealth and success.

“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.”
― Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich: The Landmark Bestseller Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century

This book reads like an instruction manual. With various steps and exercises to complete. There’s really great info here. Perfect listening material while Flexing.

“The Power of Now” By: Eckhart Tolle

Funny story. I actually picked this book up randomly from a free pile on the curb. I ended up reading it entirely in a couple of days. It was exactly what I needed at the time. If your suffering from anxiety, stress, or depression I recommend you consider this book.

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.”
― Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

It’s not as religious as it sounds and the author takes no religious stance. It’s a great read or listen. Provides wisdom that can help us to be calm and accept what is without judgement.

“You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life”By: Jen Sincero

The title is a little corny on this one and might turn some people off. I didn’t expect much going into it. However the author is very funny and offers a lot of good wisdom and motivational ideas. It’s more of a modern and practical guide to dealing with the everyday struggle and taking the appropriate steps to living the life you want. The book is a little “new agey” at times. But the author is mostly expressing what has worked for her. It’s a really entertaining listen and motivational.

“If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If you’re not, you’ll find an excuse.”
― Jen Sincero, You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life

Thanks for reading folks. I’d love to hear about any audio-books you like in the comments. Have a great one. Flex on!
