It’s been reported by Geekwire and other news sources that Amazon will soon be shutting down it’s restaurant delivery service. This is upsetting to hear for many driver’s who depend on restaurant deliveries and Instant Offers to supplement their income.
Driver’s are responding over social media about this news and they’re sad to see it go. One driver said that he’ll be “damn near out of work”, and other driver’s note that among all the delivery services such as UberEats and Postmates, Amazon Restaurants was the most lucrative to work for.
Indeed drivers have long reported that Amazon Restaurant customers are more inclined to tip compared to other delivery services. To those generous customers we’d like to say, so long and thanks for all the tips!
There’s Still Hope
Amazon is heavily investing in Deliveroo, a U.K.-based food delivery company, and we may see this service make it’s way to the US soon. Amazon led a $575 million funding round with the company, with those kinds of numbers, we’d be willing to wager they have big plans for Deliveroo.
Appreciate it! Flex on.
Update:
Amazon has now confirmed this news and sent out an email to Flex drivers.
